The DWD Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS) Workstation Support Services Team is looking to procure a System Engineer 1 contractor to join a highly skilled team responsible for its core desktop management services including the management systems required for configuration, automation, deployment and administration of 3,000 devices and 2,500 application versions. The position requires an individual that has solid technical, analytical and troubleshooting skillsets; can work independently as well as collaborate in a small team setting with technical peers; and can manage daily support activities with larger project deployments and milestones.
This contractor will enable BITS to meet the imediate support needs for workstation support staffing that support applications projects for Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division, Employment and Training Division (DET), and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) that are federally-funded. The position will also participate as a project member to ensure high priority projects (e.g. O365, Windows 10, Accounts Domain migration in DOA/DET, VOIP and Exchange Online) are successfully implemented in a timely and efficient manner.
In addition to the project activities, BITS also needs to assure support for the workstation hardware and software technical infrastructure; including activities such as keeping software at current levels, researching and installing new and/or additional hardware/software, scripting and deploying software/application updates to workstations, and providing day-to-day 3rd level problem resolution to technical staff and customers. Working together with other BITS and/or division staff, this position will enable BITS to provide technology support to assist DWD staff to manage their workload demands and stay on schedule with critical business timelines for projects to implement federal and state mandated programs, make business process improvements - as well as refresh technology to assure that IT applications continue to perform as needed. The position would also benefit from experience with automated deployments leveraging LANDesk toolsets, working in MDT and implementing Windows 10 in a large scale environment
Hardware/Software Environment: The hardware environment consists of Lenovo desktops, HP notebooks and tablets in addition to HP local printers and Ricoh MFD devices. The core software environment consists of Windows 7, Windows 10, Office 2010, Office 2016, Office 365 in addition to a multitude of 3rd party and home grown applications.
Additional Comments: his position requires interaction with several entities: WSS team members, BITS developers, division customers and external customers. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of customer knowledge levels is essential. The ability to balance multiple assignments and work within deadlines
